Caring for your bag
With care, vegetable tanned leather bags will age beautifully, giving many years of service.
Because of the natural tanning process, as the leather ages it will develop its unique patina, which includes a slight darkening of colour. Regular monthly application of a small amount of leather balsam will nourish the leather and contribute further to the development of its patina.
The bag should be stored in a cool dry place away from any direct heat or sunlight which can damage leather, causing fading of colour, drying or cracking. Stuffing the inside with tissue paper will prevent the sides of the leather collapsing and thus maintain its shape. Avoid getting the bag wet to prevent any possible colour transfer. Should wetting occur, gently wipe away excess moisture and then leave to dry naturally in a warm room overnight. The application of a small amount of leather balsam will then restore the bag’s surface.
All bags have been finished with oils and waxes. I would particularly recommend Renapur Leather Balsam as the best product I have found to restore surface wear and protect and maintain your bag’s condition.
