For as long as I can remember, I have made items of clothing for myself and later for my family. It helped to have expert tuition from a mother who was trained and then practiced as a tailor in the days when women wore complex suits and costumes.
Having had a long career in health and education, I planned a late career change around the decision to return to creative sewing, this time experimenting with various kinds of leather. After having taken several courses in leather working and traditional saddlery during the previous year to improve my skills, I worked with vegetable tanned shoulders until satisfactory shapes and realistic bags emerged.
Since setting up the workshop in 2012, each day I look forward to trying out new designs and producing bespoke items that stretch my own boundaries.
As the workshop is based within our own grounds, I am able to vary my days by taking advantage of the wonderful countryside that is Deeside. Having time out in this environment adds to the richness that this new lifestyle offers.
